Sen. Susan Collins is not Margaret Chase Smith despite Collins’ delusion over her own voting record

The late great republican Us Senator Margaret Chase Smith of Maine once said of the republican party back in the 1950’s:

“Smears are not only to be expected but fought. Honor is to be earned, not bought.”

and…

“I don’t want to see the Republican Party ride to political victory on the Four Horsemen of Calumny – Fear, Ignorance, Bigotry, and Smear”

(CLICK HERE TO WATCH FUTURE SENATOR TOM ALLEN NEWEST AD AGAINST SUSAN COLLINS’ LATEST SMEAR ABOUT HIS ATTENDANCE RECORD)

Well, little did Margaret Chase Smith (MCS) now when she said these two sentences…that almost a half century later a Maine republican like Senator Susan Collins would come along! What a huge disappointment Susan Collins would be today if Margaret was around. I call Margaret the ‘late GREAT Senator’ for a reason, because this was a woman (first woman to serve in both houses of Congress) who had earned & gained the trust of my grandmother, you know, my grandmother, who on her death bed at the age of 93 two months after 9/11/01, hated the republicans so much that she was spitting and sputtering before he last breath was taken. Grammy liked MCS and she liked Olympia Snowe. Susan Collins? This woman made my grandmother yell on more than one occasion when she heard Susan talking on the television, “Turn it off! I can’t stand listening to her!”.

As stated in Tom Allen’s ad above, he has had over 7,500 votes and missed 157 of them to attend personal matters. He also noted that the other votes he missed DIDN’T NEED HIS VOTE TO PASS OR NOT PASS. On the other hand, during the same time period (they both have been in DC for 12 years now), Collins has only had to make 3,782 votes. Yep, she’s had half as many votes as he has! Oh, but Collins would rather smear Allen over this, because to her, POWER (and winning!) IS THE ONLY REASON WHY SHE’S RUNNING FOR A THIRD TERM, which is the response she gave when she was asked why she’s running again, when she made it clear HERE, that she would only run for two terms.

Not only would MCS be rolling in her grave right now at the behavior of Susan Collins over the past 8 years and during the her last three elections, but if my grandmother was alive today, she would be out of her mind with disgust!

The only thing Sen. Susan Collins cares about is her perfect attendance record in DC. She likes to think of herself as Margaret Chase Smith for this reason alone. Yep, just a perfect voting attendance record just like MCS. Of course, Collins is elaborating on this record because Senator Susan Collins doesn’t want you to focus on is WHAT SHE IS ACTUALLY VOTING ON WHEN SHE SHOWS UP. See? Susan doesn’t want you to know that she’s voted 55% to 88% of the time in favor of George Bush’s economic and foreign policies.

MARGARET CHASE SMITH WOULD HAVE BUCKED GEORGE BUSH AND HER PARTY OVER THE PAST 8 YEARS HAD SHE BEEN IN COLLINS’ PLACE. Collins did not.

Mainers pretty much despise George Bush and if the media had done it’s job up here during the election cycle, they would known how much of a jackboot licker Collins was to him!

As of right now, the only big boo boo she made in her delusional life was the one ABOUT CUBA. Huh? That’s it? MCS would be livid with you! Does Susan know that John McCain and his wife are in the process of getting a beer contract with the Cuban government? Again, MCS would be bullshit at you for your stupidity & jackboot licking! Susan Collins’ voting record has been her biggest mistake, and just like George Bush, she think of one to point out that was significant, and instead, said something from left field!

Sooooo….

Anything George Bush has wanted over the years, she’s given it to him….and yes….some of these bills that she voted on and passed were also bills that Democrats also voted in favor of. This is why Susan Collins also wants you to think being bipartisan is a good thing. Well, sometimes being bipartisan can be dangerous and destructive to our country (authorizing illegal occupations, the non-Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, the Bankruptcy Bill, deregulating the banking industry, giving more power to George Bush than any other president in our history).

A NOTE TO SUSAN COLLINS FROM TOM ALLEN: “You can be bipartisan and still be wrong.”

Exactly Tom!

Senator Susan Collins shows up to vote all the time, because she can. She’s not a mother, she’s not a wife, she doesn’t have a live-in girlfriend as far as I can tell, but she certainly has plenty of time to party down in DC whenever she wants to after she’s voted! Spit. Margaret Chase Smith may have shown up to vote every time, but she wasn’t there to screw over the nation by bankrupting it, by giving the president unchecked powers, all the while, lying & deceiving Mainers along the way! No way in hell would she be a Susan Collins ever in her lifetime!

Margaret Chase Smith saw this coming a long time ago. She knew republicans had lost their minds.

I grew up in a different Republican Party than exists today. Instead of Senators like Elizabeth Dole, we had good intelligent people like Sen. Margaret Chase Smith of Maine.

Something happened along the way. We got people like Richard Nixon, Joe McCarthy (who called Sen. Smith “Moscow Maggie”!), and the John Birch Society who became a cancer on the party. Because there were so many Dixiecrat racists in the Democratic Party, it took Republicans like Rep. Charles Halleck (R-IN) and Sen. Everett Dirksen (R-IL) who brought a majority of Republican votes that passed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts under Lyndon Johnson. Republicans had a greater percentage of their members voting in favor than did Democrats who had a rebellion of Southern Democrats (aka Dixiecrats). However, Richard Nixon (with the help of strategists like Pat Buchanan) then invited these racists like Sen. Strom Thurmond over into the GOP which started the downfall of the old “Party of Lincoln”. Then came along Reagan, the Bushes, Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, the neocons, the fundie religious, and now we have the modern Republican Party that has lost its way.
